Members of the small congregation at Houston Unity Baptist Church said when they refused to give the pastor their tax refunds; he refused to give them their Communion. Some members of the church spoke with FOX 26 anonymously. “He said for all those who are getting a tax refund, ‘How many are you are going to give it to the church’?” James said. Pastor John Goodman said while he refused Communion, it wasn’t because his members didn’t donate their tax refunds to the church. It’s because they’ve failed to step up and do what’s needed to keep the church afloat. “I asked if there were any other members, which I know it is, that got income tax money. I ask if they would like to contribute it over here to the new parking lot.” When asked if he withheld Communion, Pastor Goodman said absolutely but it wasn’t because of the tax refund issue. He said it was because of internal issues in the church he refused to disclose. via Pastor Calls Flock Devils, Demons. //Wow… can we all say together… “Pastoral Abuse” Question:  Have you ever forbidden anyone in your church from taking communion?  (I know that most of us feel that scripture says we need to search our hearts to be sure we can take communion, but have you every searched anyone else’s heart and told them not to partake?)  Should you ever step in in this situation?

Controversy
The Catholic Church isn’t talking nice about one of their own:  Andrew Cuomo.  According to a report in the New York Times:
His relationship with Sandra Lee, his live-in girlfriend, is sacrilegious and should be punished by denying Cuomo communion, writes Vatican court consultant Edward Peters. It’s official: “Public concubinage” is officially the dirtiest-sounding church term we’ve ever heard.
via Church Leader: Andrew Cuomo Is Living in ‘Public Concubinage’ — Daily Intel. I agree.  I think we should take an offering to Edward Peters.  He deserves some kind of a prize for coining a new term. I don’t know about you, but I plan on working the whole ‘public concubinage’ comment into my vocabulary.  Daily. QUESTION:  When someone asks you why it was OK for Solomon to have a thousand concubines and we can’t today… what do you tell them? What’s your quick answer?
