Why this story matters for church leaders:

The sources of renewal for the church in England are immigrants and charismatic Christianity. How could these forces shape the church in America?

  • Know your demographics: The churches that have welcomed immigrants are the ones that are growing in England. What are the demographics in your community?
  • Who can you learn from? Christians from Africa and eastern Europe are revitalizing churches, while the older churches in England close up. How can the church benefit from the wisdom and experience of these growing churches?
  • A Lesson from the Assemblies of God in America: The Assemblies of God is a Pentecostal denomination that has welcomed Latino members and is among one of the few denominations that is growing in America.

Are there opportunities for your church to learn or adapt based on the trends of churches in England?
