The best thing Pat Robertson could do for himself is to stop doing these Q&A sessions from his audience.
That said… how would YOU have advised this man to respond to his wife? (Other than move to Saudi Arabia).

Robertson came to a lot of conclusions from this man’s questions. He was only getting one side of the story, and as we all know there is always 2 sides to the story. I wonder how the this fellow’s spouse would react if she heard his question? On a serious note, i would tell him that he can’t change her, but he can change himself, with God’s guidance and help. So concentrate on becoming more like Jesus, and let God deal with his wife.
The various co-hosts must totally dread this segment. I would be dusting off my resumé at this point.

Besides the multiple inane comments about becoming a Muslim and beating her — if I were a Muslim, I would be extremely offended by that comment — Robertson jumped to an unwarranted conclusion that this man needs to stand up to his wife. On what basis? On the basis of only the man’s perspective? The writer’s use of an odd phrase (“…she even went as far as stretching her hand to beat me.”) should have at least caused Robertson to proceed very cautiously.
He should have directed the man to a pastor or family counselor who is competent to talk with the couple, discover what the actual problem is, and then work with them toward a solution.
