Five Comments Pastors HATE!

Pastor criticism. It’s amazing how many stupid comments people can make to church leaders. I’ve heard my fair share over the years… but I wonder… what are the things that have been said to you that are the most outlandish?

Matt Steen and I discuss the 5 comments that pastors absolutely hate to hear. Taken from an article by John Ortberg at Leadership Journal:

Todd, I’m not a fan of the video chats between you and Matt. I prefer to read. Sorry to say I’m about ready to drop your site from my favorites list. Peace out.

Bummer, Richard… If you do go to the video page, the link to what we’re talking about is always included below, so you can have the option to read as well.

The feedback on the video format has been overwhelming great so far… sorry you’re not digging it.

      I hope you stay. 🙂

I agree with Richard and have voiced it earlier with in an email. I’m sure you guys are great, so I don’t want you to take it personally. I can read MUCH faster than I can listen to your banter. I haven’t been able to easily find a link to the written version, so I too am thinking about dropping out.

I couldnt get a link to the written form from my ipad from the video. Could you just put a link on the main page for those of us who would rather read and wont listen to the video?

You just have to click the ‘share more’ in the video description.

The purpose of the video format is really to start a conversation… and we think that we can do that through video. We want to encourage, provoke, and learn… something that we can’t do as well just through printed word.

So… we’re releasing two videos a day… and as I said, if you don’t want to watch, I hope you’ll stick around. (The videos are only about 20% of the content I post here on a daily basis). And if you’re interested in the topic, but not the video, the link should be just literally a couple of clicks (and about 5 seconds) away.

Love to hear other comments on the video posts Matt and I have been doing. We’re still refining the format… and we aren’t trying to be rock starts. We’re just a couple of friends that love to talk ministry stuff and have a heart for sharing and helping other leaders.

And… we have tough skin. 🙂

And I’ll check out how (and if it can be done) on an iPad. I have one here that I’ll check with.

Interesting… about 30% of the youtube watches in the first week of MinistryBriefing have come from phones and tablets (mobile devices).

Thanks to Richard for his I would prefer to read comment – I’ve been thinking the same thing. And now I know where to find the link for the article. I’ve been skipping the videos and missing out on good stuff.

I would also prefer to read the posts than listen got be video chats. There is so much information coming my way that I want to speed read first.
    Thanks for asking for feedback.

Todd, when you say “video page” do you mean Youtube? I prefer to read, as well, because of the time factor. I’d rather read a transcript and move on to other stuff, no offense, please. If I can get through the content of a 7 minute video in 2.5 or 3 minutes then, well… you understand.

I sure appreciate your ministry, Todd.

      Yes… on the YouTube page.

      Thanks for the input.
