Kicking off 2013 preaching through Philippians for 8 weeks. The theme is “Victorious” and the question is “How can we have a victorious year?” and “How can I live a victorious life?” 2012 was difficult in many ways for our congregation – mainly, some key leaders left suddenly at Easter, then we had a fire in our auditorium the second week of December (which we are still in major recovery mode from). We’re using the imagery of running a race, which will continue throughout the year, and will shape everything from sermons to elder’s meetings to outreach.

    REgroup – life groups
    REinvest – evangelism
    REcommit – discipleship
    REvision – direction

A challenge to commitment for Jesus and The River.

Making Disciples: Developing Authentic Christ Followers

This series will last throughout the entire year,

In September the Holy Spirit began to lead me in this area. I feel the church in America needs this desperately. We have been emphasizing the command to “Go” in the Great Commission for a long time, which is vital. However, in Matthews 28:18-20 we are called to “Go and Make Disciples”. We have done a great job going and making converts, especially in other countries.. However, we need to be developing new believers in true discipleship. In fact. We should always be disciplining people no matter how long they have been a Christ Followers.

We are developing very shallow disciples in America. Therefore, sin runs rampant in the world and in the church. I want to see our church family make disciples that as disciple makers. This much happen if the church of Jesus Christ wants to make a comeback in America.
