"Hot girls attend Pastor Fireman's Church"

This just in from Nigeria.

All the hot girls are going to Dr. Fireman’s church.

That’s the new billboard campaign for a church.

(I guess it’s a play on ‘fireman’ and ‘hot’.  Tricky.)

Here’s the billboard:

According to Pastor Fireman:

“The point is that God sent me to bring Twenty-First Century innovations that will change Christianity and make it have more results. Let me give you an example…Recently, believers do soul winning among believers, Churches “wins souls” from another church. That is not soul winning, that is souls transfer… They are fishing in the frying pan. Real soul winning is reaching out to sinners and getting them saved. To do that, one has to go to where sinners are!” That is how Jesus did it! “And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples” (Matthew 9:10)…And it brings criticism! “And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, how is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?” (Mark 2:16)… Jesus reaching out to sinners was misunderstood, but He didn’t care. Here was Jesus’ response to the criticism: “wisdom is justified of her children” (Matthew 11:19). He called strategy for reaching out to sinners “wisdom,” and said that, contrary to the claims of critics, the strategy is not justified by how it looks but by its results! Our Hot Girls flyer was a Twenty-First Century evangelistic innovation! We wanted to reach out to harlots. We wanted to take call girls off the streets around the location of the church.”

OK… you know you have to comment on this one. So… let’s hear it.

And please, please, please… don’t send this idea to Ed Young, Jr.

I travel to Nigeria often because of the ministry I run and if you know Nigeria, this is not that strange.

I’m not comfortable with using sex appeal (“hot,” the posing) to attract people to church. I’m all for 21st Century approaches, but with the prevalence of sexual sin, sexual addictions, and lack of modesty in the culture, we shouldn’t be hyping that.

But I do not know Nigeria.

But Todd’s last comment was worth the entire post! 🙂

Very Interesting approach. It is worth noting that all of the ladies in the picture are fairly modestly dressed by today’s standards. Do they play “Single Ladies” by Beyonce during the service? And if this is in fact the place for all the Hot Girls I’ll bet he gets a larger than average young male attendance.

I don’t know much about Nigeria other than I have been contacted by a deposed Nigerian Prince who is looking to hide his rather substantial fortune from the government. I’m waiting for funds to be deposited in my account now. Maybe when I get the money I can “sew a seed into his ministry”

Oh, and please friends don’t tell anyone about the Deposed Prince, we need to keep that our little secret.
