– With the exception of the one or two you’ve heard of, churches in Australia are generally quite small, rarely seating more than 250. A supposed “BIG” church I’m thinking of probably seats no more than 450. In the capital cities, land is quite expensive, development is high-density, and large parcels usually just aren’t available. What this church is doing simply can’t even be done in most places.
– This church is planning one of the country’s largest venues NOT in one of its largest cities! Toowoomba probably doesn’t have more than 150,000!
And THAT is what makes this a wacky plan, as far as I’m concerned……….
Some Koreans are well known for building huge buildings in Thailand when the congregation is only 30-50 people. I have pics of these massive buildings and have visited them personally to verify the number of members. But they sure do make great “missions” pics.
The initial expansion is only for 1200 seats…so faith.
Build it and they’ll come?
Great line in a movie, but not a really good church growth principle. Gotta have relationships.
A couple of interesting points:

I’ll be in Toowoomba in a couple of weeks – perhaps I should just ask them?
