Nicola Mendelsohn, head of Facebook’s operations in Europe, The Middle East and Africa, says that in the next 5 years written text will all but disappear from their platform. “The best way to tell stories in this world, where so much information is coming at us, actually is video,” noted Mendelsohn. “It conveys so much more information in a much quicker period. So actually the trend helps us to digest much more information.”
Why This Story Matters For Church Leaders: Social media is the backbone of communication and leadership must encourage their staff and church to use it relevantly and effectively.
- Be Visual– Facebook is using a prime example here of the visual shift happening in media, is your church using video and imagery to its best advantage?
- Do your homework– What works on your social media platforms and what doesn’t? How can you change with the times?
- Engage your youth– Are there any talented younger people in your congregation with the skill set you need to make these changes?
Is your community not only hearing but seeing what you have to offer?
