Discover Ministry Briefing! --> The Best Way To Keep "In The Know"!
This is the sign that greeted me directly after the security line at the Milwaukee airport earlier this week.
Recombobulate: The act of recombobulating (that’s helpful); putting back into order; removing confusion.
Have you ever needed to recombobulate? Take a little breather? Get things back together? Clear up confusion?
It’s been a rough couple of weeks here personally.
A lot of stuff going on at the church I serve (as an elder). A hire. A resignation. Change. (and all that accompanies that in a church setting).
A stressful meeting I was in coordinating in a different state that a few dozen dynamic leaders were flying in for. No pressure.
Other travel and responsibilities and stress.
And in a week, my wife and I take our two oldest boys (correction – young men) to Florida for them to start the next step in their college journey (Tristan will be attending Full Sail University in Orlando. Taylor will be headed to Ocean’s Edge School of Worship in Fort Lauderdale). I am dreading that drive back!
So… there’s a lot going on.
And I’m a bit in need of a recombobulation.
(I’m happy to report that things at the church are looking up, the meeting went well, and I’m extremely excited for my boys).
But about a week ago… in the midst of all of this… I hit a wall.
And I haven’t done that for a while.
Or at least hit the wall as hard as I did.
And I really didn’t see it coming.
I usually rebound from things pretty easily. And I figured I would this time as well.
But it didn’t happen. I felt Sad. Stressed. Exhausted. Ineffective. You name it.
I’m slowly recovering. Shaking of the dust, and figuring things out.
So… I’m in the process of recombobulation. And you probably won’t hear much from me here until after Labor Day.
Every once in a while, we need to step back and assess. That’s a good thing. What’s working? What’s not? How am I spending my time? How am I making an impact? (and where am I just spinning my wheels)?
Part of the process for me is the realization that I can’t do it all.
And the truth of the matter is… I don’t WANT to do it all.
But I want to be effective.
I want to be a game changer.
I want to make an impact.
Ever need to visit the recombobulation area?
