Driscoll Book a Hit

Mark and Grace Driscoll’s new book, Real Marriage, reached the top spot on the list of bestselling books for both Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com for a while on Monday despite not being available in stores until Tuesday.

You can order a copy of “Real Marriage” from Amazon.com right here if you’re so inclined.

My question to you is… are YOU planning on reading the book?

Respond back with one of the following:

1.  Already read it.  Loved it.
2.  Already read it.  It was ok.
3.  Already read it.  Complete heresy.
4.  Gonna read it… can’t wait.
5.  I’ll probably read it, but won’t like it.
6.  I like books like this because it gives me something to complain/gripe about, so I’ll probably read it.
7.  Not gonna bring that smut into my house.

There… I’ve given you some pretty good choices.  Let me know your thoughts.  You can even give a brief explanation if you like!

How about #8 – Will buy it when it is either super cheap or free on Kindle

#8 – Gonna read it but not in a rush (I can wait).

While I’ve had problems in the past with some of Mark’s content and his delivery of messages… I do think I’m going to like this based on the reviews I’ve read. Since all the people who hate it and are ripping it, also have negative reviews of almost every book I’ve liked in the past few years, I’m assuming that I’ll enjoy it. 🙂

BTW… when I do read it, I plan to read Tim Keller’s book immediately before or after. Hearing GREAT things about his book.

    8. Probably not going to read it…

I hear Mark is awesome and I’ve seen him do great things-but on issues like this he seems to try and make the Bible ‘black and white’ where it is ‘gray’. The Bible is clear about a lot of things but in many of the sexual areas Mark tends to speak about-the Bible is just not as ‘black and white’ as he can make it out to be. I’m not bashing him and I will glady admit that maybe I’ve just seen a few excerpts and clips of him that are the exception and those are his ‘off’ days (I know I wouldn’t want my least accurate moments to definte me) but from what I have seen, he tends to not be very good in this area. Either way, Grace and Love…

Not gonna read it. because I read the reviews. The sex advice sounds good (and gets repeated in Christian publishing about every 10 years). The patriarchy thing is a loser.

#8 — I will read it and look forward to it, but I don’t have a predisposition towards it. I’m not in a huge hurry, but have enjoyed reading the varied responses to it from around the cyber-world.
