Changing your title to "Pastor of Mistakes"

I’ve met far too many pastors that are scared to death of making a mistake.  Afraid to risk. Afraid to be wrong.

Stop it.

“The chief trick to making good mistakes is not to hide them – especially not from yourself. Instead of turning away in denial when you make a mistake, you should become a connoisseur of your own mistakes, turning them over in your mind as if they were works of art, which in a way they are.”

— Daniel Dennet via Dan Shipper

Everybody makes mistakes.  Even (especially) pastors.  If you’re afraid you’ll lose your job if you make a mistake, then you should probably get another job anyway (because your time is limited AND who wants to live like that?)

So… get out there… right now… and do something that you just might screw up.  Then learn from your mistake.

Craft the art of making (and learning from) mistakes today.
