Why this story matters for church leaders:
The church can be a place of unity and hope as communities grieve unnecessary violence.
- Diversity Is Intentional: It’s easy to stick with what you know, but diversity means seeking out the contributions of others.
- Reconciliation Is Urgent: As black families mourn and live in fear, the church can be a place of understanding and reconciliation.
- Mergers Help: Congregations that need a fresh start can be revitalized with a merger–provided it’s done carefully!
