Why this story matters for church leaders:

Personal health is easy to neglect for pastors who have to care for their congregations and lead staff, but neglect can add up and lead to major health problems in the long term.

  • Make Time to Exercise: Exercise is essential for maintaining your health, managing stress, and providing time to think or pray.
  • What to Eat: Wattenbarger lost weight through a low carb diet that made it easy to make better eating decisions. If you struggle with discipline, a low carb diet can help you narrow down your choices.
  • Finding Help: Personal trainers at gyms, nutritionists, fitness classes, and other community-based options can make it easier to remain accountable and to stick with a program that works.

What steps can you take toward greater health today?
