Why this story matters for Church Leaders:

The church has often been on the other side of this issue, lobbying for what should not be in school, what does it look like to respond with grace to finding ourselves on the receiving end of these complaints?

  • If the shoe were on the other foot– How do you feel about having information about all faiths available in your local library, such as the Book of Mormon and the Koran?
  • An atheist walks into a coffee shop– How would you engage someone in your community if they approached you on this topic, or about faith in schools?
  • Do you have a relationship with your local schools? Is your leadership involved in your community education system, or if you had a concern would you have to first introduce yourself?

How does your community perceive your congregation? Are you responding to current events with timely grace and engagement?
