LifePath Church Serves and Learns from Muslim Neighbors

Rich Reaves of LifePath Church visited the mosque next door to his church and found ways to serve his Muslim neighbors. He also organized tours of the mosque for his church so that members could learn what Islam teaches. Reaves notes that his Muslim neighbors are actually quite afraid of being attacked in America and even have a fence around the mosque as a safety measure.

Why this story matters for church leaders:

There are outreach opportunities all around us in our communities, and at a time when many Muslims are misunderstood, living in fear, and in need of the Gospel, service and understanding are important steps forward.

  • Reaching Muslims: The majority of Muslims in America live in fear and are misunderstood. How can your church raise awareness and understanding?
  • Who Is Close to Your Church? Reaves simply looked for a simple way to help his neighbors and ended up building relationships with the Muslims who attended the mosque next door.
  • Opportunities Abound: Muslims are eager to discuss their beliefs and their hatred of extremists, but are we giving ourselves time for that conversation to happen?

Which group in your community can you reach with the Gospel?
